Are these Bohemian Garnet earrings vintage or contemporary? It is impossible to say, but they are set in the centuries old Bohemian cluster style. What is also evident is that they are masterfully crafted and of very good quality. When visiting Prague in 2015 I could understand why Czech Garnet jewellery were so prized. I looked with longing at the glowing, wine-red stones that seemed to be so mysterious - perhaps because they are so inextricably linked to this mysterious country of castles, forests and battles. The Bohemian garnet has excellent clarity, transparency, and has a high refraction of light. This means that the stone has a remarkable sparkle and what has been described as an "inner glow".
These two earrings are set, in typical Czech Bohemian fashion, in a cluster of gilt silver. Stamped on the bottom of each lever back with: 925. Size: Cluster diameter is 10mm, Lenght of lever backs are 16mm.
